Hunter was sweet tempered, well mannered and anxious to please... in desperate need of a forever , loving home. I was facing my own challenges. Life’s twists and turns left me with severe anxiety, depression and panic attacks. I needed a Service Dog. Through Florida Giant Dog Rescue, Hunter and I found each other and began our journey. We needed to learn about each other and attend classes to master the skills necessary for Hunter to become a Certified Service Dog.... and most of all to help me improve the quality of my life with Hunter’s help. The first step in the process was for Hunter to be evaluated by Ernie at Valor Medical Service Dog to see if he would be a good candidate for training. On March 29, Hunter was approved and accepted; we began training. Within two months, he has earned Canine Good Citizenship. At present, Hunter is enrolled in the Advanced Good Canine Citizenship Certification class as well as learning specific tasks to assist me day to day. He is excelling! Hunter has learned through smell, taste and pressure to recognize biochemical and behavioral changes in me that would require him to intervene and help me deal with the situation. Our relationship and ongoing bonding continues to grow stronger. We attend formal classes and public outings to help Hunter learn his skills needed for his job. We practice daily so that he can easily recognize the signs and symptoms that require his response in order to help me in my time of need as my companion and Service Dog. Over the next few months, Hunter and I will fine tune our relationship and his skill sets that are most necessary . He will be evaluated and tested and upon completion of the program; Hunter will have earned Canine Good Citizenship, Advanced CGC, Urban CGC and ADI Service Dog Designation. How can I begin to describe what Hunter means to me and my life? Thank you from the bottom of my heart Florida Giant Dog Rescue for making this possible! You have rescued us❤️ Hunter and Valerie Jones
At two years of age; this beautiful Great Dane was an owner surrender to the Rescue. They lost their home... he lost his family ...through no fault of his own.
I love my new family!
